Scenario A: Falling Stars
The sky has recently taken on a constant darkness above, though strangely enough, light persists for things that are observing from the ground. Thinking about it for too long is asking for a logic headache, so it’s probably best to just take it in stride and enjoy the view. The vibrantly colored auroras slowly dancing through the sky are quite the beautiful sight, with the glow of the strange objects moving with them resonating like stars. That one looks like it’s shooting across the sky - maybe if you make a wish, it’ll come true!
...Come to think of it, it looks like it’s getting closer, and fast. Maybe you should duck, or at least warn the person nearby that’s blissfully unaware of what’s incoming. The stars may only be as big and heavy as a volleyball, but they can still make quite the impact when they're falling fast enough.
Once the danger has passed, you'll have a miniature star all to yourself. It's hot, but you can touch it. Maybe you could think of something fun to do with it. Anyone up for a game of hot potato?
Scenario B: Let It Snow
The world is still trying to get the hang of weather, and snow is its latest venture. The snow itself is the part it seems to understand the best: snow is cold, snow can be compacted into shapes, snow falls from the sky in flakes, snow melts into water, water can also make ice, ice is hard and slippery...
What it doesn't seem to understand yet is how snow should collect - that is to say, not instantaneously. After only a few seconds of gently descending snowflakes, any area can suddenly be covered in a thick blanket of white as if it had been snowing for hours. If you happen to be sitting down you might find yourself buried under a snowdrift, or frozen to the ground if you're standing in water. The results can be even more disastrous if you're in water when the weather shifts - fortunately, breathing seems to be optional, so at least you won't drown if you decided to take a dip in the lake.
When the snowfall ends, the snow and ice vanish as suddenly as they had appeared. It may be awhile before that happens, though, so if you're caught in a tricky situation you may want to call for help.
Scenario C: A Tall Order
The Kichijoji Aerial District is mostly empty storefronts right now, but the large size of the rooms compared to the Merlaut Apartments has made them appealing as a place to call home. All they need is furnishing and cleaning and a big studio apartment could be yours. How hard could that be?
Well, the local wildlife has also taken a liking to the abandoned stores, and some of them can be trickier to evict than others. How did a winged giraffe get itself stuck here in the first place? How does it keep getting back in every time your back is turned? It's hard to say, but you'll need to figure something out if you don't want to start all over again with a new apartment. That, or you'll need to accept that your new roommate is a bit messy and likes to chew on your clothes.
Scenario D: Into The Unknown
At the edge of the known world is an infinite white expanse - the void, as people have come to call it. There doesn't seem to be much out there, so few have bothered to explore it further than the edges. What else could there be in a plane defined by its lack of substance, life and color?
Lately, however, something seems different about it. Far, far away, barely a glint in the endless sea of white... is something glowing out there, or is it just your imagination? Something about it calls to you, and you feel compelled to try to reach it. Yet no matter how far you walk it never seems to get close enough to see clearly, always just a distant flicker taunting you in the distance.
Before you know it, you're so far into the void you can barely see the silhouette of Mount Silver behind you. Do you keep trying, or is it time to turn back? Or are you the one chasing after someone else, hoping to stop them before they wander too far?

"Cloning, hmm? I research Pokemon too, but I've never done anything like that." Perhaps she already knows, was able to put his labcoat and his statement of 'I take care of lots of Pokemon' together, but it's best to be clear. He can't say he completely approves of cloning Pokemon, just because anything created by such a venture will live as a specimen from birth, and that doesn't seem like a very happy life.
"Did you know nature makes clones too? They're called identical twins -- one baby splits into two babies, and they're both identical to the original." They're not exactly the same thing, but the concept is close enough.
He leads the way toward the edge of the lake -- it's not ice cold, but it's cold enough for their purposes.
((Sounds good! BTW, I've got another character I can tag you with if you need more threads for samples -- not that I'm getting bored with our thread, not at all, just thought I'd make the offer! :P))

Yes, she thought she had figured it out, mostly! “Did you work at some kind of reserve? Or maybe you worked outside, in the field? Or did you have a very big lab, Professor?”
At the simplified explanation, she spun around, cheerfully. “Is that how twins work?! How mysterious...! My newest friend was made from an eyelash!”
((That could be fun! My only samples otherwise are quite a few years old, so it’d probably help! ^^))

But then he remembers all the time shenanigans going on in this place -- the boy claiming to be his grandson is far too old, to start with. So instead of looking at a dead girl... perhaps she just came from a point in time from before she died. Yes, that must be it.
"Oh, uh, my lab itself isn't too big, but I have a lot of land outside of it for the Pokemon to live and play and run around on." He awkwardly brings his attention back to their conversation.
"My name is Samuel Oak. Maybe you've heard of me?" He's only the most famous and respected Pokemon researcher around, and something of a 'science education' celebrity
ala Bill Nyebesides.no subject
Amber mostly liked to watch animated shows, but, she’s definitely glimpsed him on TV too, talking about the Kanto starters and that sort of thing! She tended to doze off after the initial excitement of seeing a cute Pokemon, but she might have been just a bit too young to follow along for long!!
“The Pokemon all looked very cute! I guess you must get lots of exercise with all those Pokemon!”
An overly adventurous and somewhat accident-prone Bill Nye, if it’s anything like the Professor Oak’s Pokemon Lectures! She looked curiously down at the water.
“How will we use use the water? With the towel?”

Look, if Bill Nye had to deal with ornery animals with super powers, he'd get tossed around the room a few times too."Oh, no, nothing like that." He approaches the very edge of the water, holding out his burned hand to steady himself. "Careful, the mud here is slippery. Don't fall."
He looks down at the wrapped up star in his hand, considering where to put it while he takes care of his hand. He considers giving it to Amber -- and he's sure it'd make her happy to hold it -- but he doesn't want to risk her burning herself. So in the end, he just drops it in his labcoat pocket, but the glow penetrates through even that, though much dimmer.
"I just need to soak my hand in this water for a while." It'd be even better if it was running, but they can't be picky; the important thing is to cool his hand off so there's no further damage. With that, he kneels by the water's edge, leans over, and thrusts his hand in the water. The edge of his sleeve is getting a little wet, but he doesn't mind. It wouldn't be the worst thing to happen to his labcoat, even here.
[this is officially one of the cutest threads ever and Sam’s great ;3;]
Fair point! She watched the star glow in his pocket. While she would have preferred to carry it and even began lifting her hands for a second, thinking she’d get to hold it, she soon realized he was keeping it... besides, the gentler glow through cloth was just as enchanting.
“Catch a falling star and put it in your pocket... never let it fade away...”
Humming a little to herself, she rocked back and forth a little on her heels. Might not know all the words, but!
When she saw his sleeve start to get wet, she reached over to try and bunch and roll it up. “Let me help!”
<3
"No, it's okay! It's not a big deal if it gets a little wet." He doesn't want her falling and getting all wet just to help him out -- and having to fish her out of the water would defeat the purpose of keeping his sleeves dry in the first place. As it is, since the cuff is still buttoned, the sleeve somewhat resists her attempts to pull on it.
"So you said you had a friend made from an eyelash, right?" He returns to the topic to try and distract her. "Is that from your papa's cloning?"
[sorry for the delay!]
Talking about Mewtwo certainly distracted her enough to stop, she spoke animatedly, stepping here and there, and gesturing a bit with her hands to convey something round and small, as Mewtwo had been then!
Is ok!
As they talk, the heat in his fingers gradually fades away in the cold water, and he withdraws his hand from the lake. They're still a bit red and shiny where they touched the star, but that's just from the damage that's already been done -- he's successfully prevented further harm. So he steps away from the lake, offering Amber his hand to help her away from the shore too.
