Character: Ransom Drysdale Canon: Knives Out Imprint Type: Scenery
Summary: A New England mansion and its grounds.
Full Details: Think of something befitting Clue or Agatha Christie or a haunted house, so: less marble, more brick and wood. The estate is three stories high with many rooms; some of the floors and stairs creak. It's filled with the type of furniture you'd find in antique stores, and plenty of living spaces to sit, plenty of fireplaces to keep you warm. The decor is quaint or disturbing, depending on your tastes, tchotchkes and figurines and paintings that might give you a start in the middle of the night. At the middle of it all is a large library with a mezzanine and a centerpiece made of knives. Despite the library, books are stacked everywhere throughout the house, and framed covers on display that seem to be written by a mystery author named Harlan Thrombey. There's a large balcony on the second floor at the front of the house to take in the scenery. In the foyer there's an oil painting of this man that seems to change expressions depending on how you look at it, but you just can't be sure.
The grounds are large and somewhat hilly, a good portion made up of forest bordering a lake. Scattered through the woods is more or less life-sized statuary of exotic animals (i.e., not the sorts of species found in the forests of New England).
