Merlin's kinda the same. He's naturally indifferent to most people he meets, but getting along with humans on any level takes effort and there's always that human tendency to get all attached.

Granted, he doesn't always hit it off well with nonhumans, either, given how he is, but that casual, slightly-distanced sort of thing is... yeah. Comfortable. No worries about getting too invested, etc.
